Privacy Notice

Semantix respects your privacy and will protect your personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws including the new EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (“GDPR”). In accordance with the rules set out under GDPR, we would like to provide you with the following information about the data we process when sending you information.

Data Controller

Semantix acts as a Data Controller in cases where Semantix alone or jointly with others, determines the purposes and means of the processing of your personal data.

Purpose of the Processing

We use the personal data we collect to send you newsletters, invitations to our seminars, events and lectures and to maintain our list of contacts.

We do not sell, share, distribute or otherwise make your personal data available to any third party. We may however share information with companies within the Semantix Group and with our suppliers for the purposes listed below.

Data Categories

Semantix collects certain personal data about you but only at a minimum level to be able to fulfil the purpose of the processing. “Personal data” are data that can be used to identify you or that we directly or indirectly may connect to you. We collect personal data that you have voluntarily provided to us, for example when you sign up for one of our courses, programs, newsletters or other materials or when you communicate with us via email or other channels. The data we collect include your name, e-mail address, job title, company, company address, language preference. We collect data from visits to our website and from recipients who opened or clicked links in e-mails from us. If you have attended one of our graduate programs, we also process certain data about you such as your private phone number, postal address and e-mail address.

In some cases your personal data have been supplemented by information retrieved from other sources, including searches via publicly available search engines, sector-specific newsletters, social media and your employer’s website.

We do not process your data by automated decision-making or profiling.

Legal Grounds

When processing personal data for the purposes explained above, we rely on our legitimate interests in maintaining business relationships and communicating with you, as a business contact, about our operations and our events. We consider that our legitimate interests abide by the law and the legal rights and freedoms of our business contacts.

Transfer of Data

Only the people who need to process personal data for the purposes mentioned above have access to your personal data. Semantix will only transfer your personal data if needed to fulfil a contract with you, if required by law or if needed to fulfil a legal obligation.

We may need to share your personal data with our international offices in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Spain, e.g. so that certain communications and invitations from these offices can be sent to you. We may also need to allow our suppliers and sub-suppliers access to your personal data when they perform services on our behalf, mainly to maintain and support our IT systems.

Any transfer of data outside the EU/EEA is made in line with applicable data protection laws. Unless there is another legitimate basis, our international transfers of personal data (including transfers to our international offices outside the EU/EEA) are based on the EU Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Retention

Your personal data will be saved in our registers for the specified purposes mentioned above for as long as you are considered a business contact to us. The data will be deleted in accordance with our data retention policy when no longer needed to fulfil its purpose.

We will provide you with opportunities to unsubscribe from our invitations. If you choose to unsubscribe, we will cease the data processing for the purposes mentioned above and remove your personal data from our contact systems.

Security

Semantix uses technical and organizational security measures to help protect your personal data against loss and to guard it against access by unauthorized persons. This includes for example secure connections (VPN connections) for all transfers between our offices and encryption of all sensitive data. We regularly review our IT and Privacy security policies to ensure our systems are secure and protected.

Your Rights

You have the right to know what personal data we process about you and may request a copy free of charge. You are also entitled to have incorrect data about you corrected and you may in some cases ask us to delete your personal data, for example if Semantix would process your personal data without legal ground. You may also object to certain personal data about you being processed and request that processing of your personal data is limited. Please note that limitation and/or deletion of personal data may result in that you do not receive our invitations. You also have the right to receive your personal data in a machine-readable format and have the data transferred to another party responsible for data processing.
